Georgia State University is conducting a research study to better understand young adults’ romantic relationships, drinking behavior, and ability to manage stress. This study involves an online survey, followed by brief (5-minute) twice-daily surveys in the morning and evening for 30 days, and follow-up surveys 1-, 3-, and 6 months following the monitoring. During the 30-day monitoring period, you will also receive up to two text messages a day. These text messages may contain information on how to manage stress and improve relationships.
We estimate that your role in the study will involve completing approximately 14 hours of surveys over 7 months.
You can earn up to $465 for completing
all portions of the research study.

All surveys are completed online through a secure web-based platform.

If you decide to take part in our research study, you will first be asked to complete an online survey which will take approximately 1.5 hours. After completing the first survey, you will be asked to answer brief twice-daily monitoring questions in the morning and evening for 30 days. You will also be randomized to one of two text-message groups and receive up to two brief text-messages each day during this 30-day monitoring period. Text messages may be sent each day in the morning and/or evening.
All participants will be asked to complete three follow-up surveys, each of which will take approximately 1.5 hours. These follow-up surveys will take place 1-, 3-, and 6-months after the end of the 30-day daily monitoring period.
Please note that to participate in the study you will need to provide a phone number and phone carrier. If you incur any expenses as a result of receiving text messages, you will be responsible for these expenses.

Participation will span over 7 months.

You can receive a total compensation of up to $465. All payments will be provided in the form of an Amazon.com gift card. You will receive $40 after completing the first baseline survey. You will receive $4 per morning report and $3 per evening report during the 30-day daily monitoring period. Additionally, you will receive a $40 bonus for completing 90% of the daily surveys. You will receive one payment for each of the daily reports completed and the bonus if applicable at the end of the 30-day period. You will receive three separate payments of $50 after completing each of the 1-, 3- and 6-month follow-ups. Additionally, you can earn a $25 bonus for completing all three follow-up surveys paid at the end of your study participation.

If you want to be part of Project RELATE, you will need to take our brief online screening questionnaire. This screening questionnaire should only take about 5 minutes. We will ask you a few questions about your background and your relationship history.
Next, you will be taken to a separate page where you will enter your name and contact information in order for a member of our research team to contact you. Your contact information will not be connected to your responses on the screening questionnaire. We will then call you to give you more detailed information about the study. If you are still interested and eligible, we will send you a link to complete the first online survey.
